The decision to introduce same-sex marriage by a public vote was put to the Irish people on 22nd May 2015. The world was watching. This was one of the most important Referendums ever to take place in Ireland. A YES Equality bus tour was organised to bring the story to the people of Ireland of why a YES vote was important for all Irish people. We were responsible for engaging the local media all around the country to visit the bus. It went to 80 locations in 26 counties covering 11,000KM in 29 days! The YES Equality campaign resulted in the highest turnout for a referendum ever in the state with a YES vote of 63%-37% returned, passing the referendum by a 2:1 majority. We are very proud to have made a contribution to what was considered to the “defining civil rights issue of our generation”.
