300 activists, scientists, hackers, entrepreneurs, NGOs, journalists and social media and marketing experts gathered to discuss the future of the information society in Dublin. re:publica, one of the largest digital culture conferences in the world, is considered to be a festival for the ‘digital society’ designed to foster innovation and create synergies between net politics, online marketing, network technology, digital society, and (pop) culture and create a Europe-wide network of creative industries. Among a line-up of 40 individual events and 55 speakers, re:publica tackled topics concerning the digital society from various perspectives including the housing crisis, the future of Twitter (#BuyTwitter), and the success potential of digital news and media coops.
